Michael J. Passarella, MD

Dr. Michael Passarella graduated from the University of Alabama with a bachelor’s degree in Biology.  He received his MD from the University of Alabama. He completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.  After Residency, he was a VA Quality Scholar Fellow at the Birmingham VA Medical Center.  He then completed his fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the University of Alabama-Birmingham.

After completing his training, Dr. Passarella practiced at the Birmingham VA Medical Center.  While practicing he served in many roles at the University of Alabama-Birmingham including Section Chief, Associate Professor, Division Quality Officer, Clinical Competency Committee, and Program Evaluation Committee. 

He is a member of the American College of Physicians, American Gastroenterological Association, American College of Gastroenterology, and American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.  He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. 

Dr. Passarella joined BGA in March 2022.
