Rajat N. Parikh, M.D.
Dr. Rajat Parikh is a board-certified gastroenterologist and advanced endoscopist providing comprehensive digestive health care to patients throughout Alabama. He performs screening and diagnostic colonoscopies and upper endoscopies (EGD), along with advanced endoscopic procedures including endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP). Dr. Parikh also offers innovative, minimally invasive treatments for chronic GERD, hemorrhoids, and fecal incontinence, including transoral incisionless fundoplication (TIF), HemWell®, Hemorrhoid Energy Therapy (HET™), and Axonics® Therapy.
Dr. Parikh diagnoses and treats a wide range of digestive conditions, including acid reflux (GERD), Barrett’s esophagus, swallowing disorders (dysphagia), eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE), irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), liver disease, pancreatic and biliary disorders, gastrointestinal bleeding, abdominal pain, constipation, diarrhea, hemorrhoids, and gastrointestinal cancers. His clinical interests include advanced endoscopy, pancreaticobiliary disease, and gastrointestinal oncology.
Dr. Parikh earned a Bachelor of Science in Neural Sciences from New York University before receiving his Doctor of Medicine from St. George’s University School of Medicine, where he graduated with Honors Society recognition. He completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ), serving as Chief Medical Resident, before completing his fellowship in Gastroenterology at UMDNJ. He is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. Dr. Parikh joined Birmingham Gastroenterology Associates in 2011 and became Managing Partner of the practice in 2025.
Dr. Parikh played a key role in developing the Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) program at Brookwood Medical Center and has presented at numerous national conferences. He is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Gastroenterological Association, and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.
