Brian P. McGrath, MD

Dr. Brian McGrath is a board-certified gastroenterologist providing comprehensive digestive health care to patients in both Cullman and Birmingham, Alabama. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Public Policy Studies from Vanderbilt University and received his Doctor of Medicine (MD) from the University of South Alabama College of Medicine, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha and Gold Humanism Honor Societies.

He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Emory University and his fellowship in Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition at the University of Louisville. Dr. McGrath is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.

He is a member of the American Medical Association, American College of Gastroenterology, American Gastroenterological Association, and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.

Dr. McGrath joined Birmingham Gastroenterology Associates in August 2023. He performs upper endoscopies and colonoscopies, and evaluates a wide range of digestive health conditions including acid reflux (GERD), swallowing difficulties, esophageal disorders, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), liver disease, abdominal pain, and screening for colon cancer.

With a focus on early detection, prevention, and long-term management, Dr. McGrath is committed to providing high-quality, patient-centered gastroenterology care to individuals across the Birmingham and Cullman areas.
