Emma O’Neal, CRNP

Emma O’Neal, CRNP, is a board-certified nurse practitioner specializing in gastroenterology. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Alabama in 2014 and completed her Master of Science in Nursing at Samford University in 2018. She is certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.

Emma began her career with Birmingham Gastroenterology Associates in 2019 as an inpatient nurse practitioner. She later worked at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology as a CRNP, gaining valuable experience in managing complex liver and digestive conditions. In April 2025, she rejoined Birmingham Gastroenterology Associates, transitioning to outpatient care where she now works in collaborative practice with Dr. Michael Passarella.

Her clinical interests include acid reflux (GERD), irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), liver disease, abdominal pain, and colon cancer prevention and patient education. Emma provides expert, compassionate care to patients across central Alabama, providing care in the Homewood, Hoover, Meadowbrook, and Greystone areas.
