Donny D. Kakati, MD
Dr. Donny Kakati is a board-certified gastroenterologist known for his thoughtful, patient-centered approach and expertise in managing a wide range of gastrointestinal conditions. A native of Tuscaloosa, he graduated summa cum laude from the University of South Alabama with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Science. He went on to earn his Doctor of Medicine (MD) from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Medicine, where he was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society for excellence in clinical care and compassion in medicine.
Dr. Kakati completed his residency in Internal Medicine at UAB and pursued his fellowship in Gastroenterology at Emory University, where he received advanced training in diagnosing and treating complex GI and liver disorders.
He is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology, and is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology, American Gastroenterological Association, American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, and the Alabama Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.
Dr. Kakati’s clinical interests include acid reflux (GERD), inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), liver disease, esophageal disorders, hemorrhoids, abdominal pain, and colon cancer screening and prevention. He is committed to providing evidence-based, individualized care that empowers patients to take charge of their digestive health.
Dr. Kakati sees patients across central Alabama, including Birmingham, Pell City, Chelsea, Moody, and surrounding communities.
