Charles A. Dasher, Jr., MD

Dr. Charles A. Dasher, Jr. is a board-certified gastroenterologist and Birmingham native dedicated to delivering expert digestive care across central Alabama, including Birmingham, Homewood, Mountain Brook, Vestavia Hills, Hoover, Chelsea, Pell City, and Leeds. Known for his comprehensive, patient-first approach, Dr. Dasher brings extensive clinical experience and a strong foundation in both medicine and public health to his practice.

He earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Georgia, followed by a Master of Public Health from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). He went on to receive his Doctor of Medicine (MD) from the University of South Alabama, where he also completed his fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology. Dr. Dasher completed his residency in Internal Medicine at UAB.

Dr. Dasher is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology, and is an active member of the American College of Gastroenterology, American Gastroenterological Association, and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. His academic honors include the National Dean’s List, Alabama Academy of Family Practice Summer Research Program Scholar, and the VA Scholar Book Award.

His clinical interests span a wide range of gastrointestinal and liver conditions, including acid reflux (GERD), irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), liver disease, esophageal disorders, abdominal pain, hemorrhoids, and colon cancer prevention and screening. He offers diagnostic evaluations and personalized treatment plans using evidence-based medicine and preventive care, including procedures such as upper endoscopy, colonoscopy, and non-surgical hemorrhoid banding performed in the office setting.
