Christopher Shaver, M.D.

Dr. Christopher Shaver is a board-certified gastroenterologist known for his patient-focused care and clinical expertise in digestive and metabolic health. A native of Huntsville, Alabama, he graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Birmingham-Southern College, where he was a scholarship athlete and earned two Academic All-American honors in basketball.

He received his Doctor of Medicine (MD) from the University of Alabama School of Medicine, followed by an Internship and Residency in Internal Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina. He completed advanced subspecialty training in Gastroenterology at the University of South Florida.

Dr. Shaver is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology, and is a member of the American Gastroenterological Association, American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, American College of Gastroenterology, The Obesity Society, the Jefferson County Medical Society, and the Medical Association of the State of Alabama.

He treats a wide range of gastrointestinal and metabolic conditions, including acid reflux (GERD), irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), liver disease, esophageal disorders, abdominal pain, hemorrhoids, and colon cancer screening and prevention. Dr. Shaver also has a clinical interest in obesity-related gastrointestinal conditions and takes an integrative approach to patient care.

Dr. Shaver serves patients throughout central Alabama, including Birmingham, Hoover, Mountain Brook, Homewood, Vestavia, McCalla, and Gardendale, delivering high-quality GI care with a focus on prevention, education, and long-term digestive health.
