David T. Steele, MD
Dr. David Steele is a board-certified gastroenterologist providing comprehensive digestive care to patients across central Alabama, including Birmingham and Sylacauga. He brings a unique background in both business and medicine, along with a strong commitment to patient-centered care and medical education.
Dr. Steele earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Mississippi and received his Doctor of Medicine (MD) from the same institution. He completed his Internal Medicine internship and residency at the University of North Carolina, followed by a Gastroenterology fellowship at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB).
During residency, Dr. Steele was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society, was a member of the Academy of Educators, and received the prestigious Kaiser Permanente Award for Excellence in Teaching. He has also demonstrated a commitment to community service, having volunteered with Habitat for Humanity and the Jackson Free Clinic, where he served as both Grant Writing Director and Board Member.
Dr. Steele is board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology, and is an active member of the American Gastroenterological Association.
His clinical interests include the diagnosis and management of acid reflux (GERD), inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), liver disease, esophageal disorders, abdominal pain, and colon cancer screening and prevention. He uses evidence-based practices and a personalized approach to improve the long-term digestive health of his patients.
Dr. Steele proudly provides expert gastroenterology care to patients in Birmingham, Sylacauga, and surrounding communities throughout central Alabama.
