Triage Tech
Under direct supervision of the Assistant Clinical Manager, the Triage Tech is responsible for duties within the scope of patient triage. Triage Tech observes strict guidelines for effective, courteous patient and provider care. Serves as a liaison between patient and medical staff. Supports and adheres to Birmingham Gastroenterology Associates Code of Ethics and Business Standards always following HIPAA and OSHA guidelines.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Multitasking, organization with high degree of emphasis on department teamwork.
· Deliver a high degree of cheerful, caring, and courteous customer centered care when engaging patient’s every day. Always greeting patients in a pleasant and welcoming manner
· Neat and professional appearance, always adhering to appearance standards.
· Excellent customer service and organizational skills
· Checks daily assignments
· Take and record patient vitals and required additional information, verifying correct patient with correct chart and physician, using two identifiers
· Manage patients flow from front desk to exam room
· Communicate with patients if physician is late or running behind
· Ensures disinfection and cleanliness of all clinic areas, triage equipment, exam rooms and waiting rooms.
· Keeps entry doors cleaned and disinfected
· Supplies for exam rooms, keeping inventory and ordering all necessary supplies
· Keeps inventory of sample closets, disposing of all expired meds in approved receptacles.
· Travels to satellite clinics if need arises
· Works to improve healthcare services
· Identifies quality assurance and risk management issues reporting to appropriate management team
· Light MA tasks such as precerting, performing breath tests or calling to confirm appointments.
· Always observes HIPAA guidelines
Qualifications:
The minimum qualifications required to successfully perform in this position are the following:
· High school diploma or equivalent
· Minimum of 1 year work experience with knowledge of medical field, physician office experience preferred
· Ability to communicate orally and in writing to patients, doctors and staff
· Knowledge of Electronic Health Records and Processes
· To be able to type a minimum of 35-40 wpm
· Experience with assisting patient needs
· BLS or ALS certification
Physical Requirements:
This job requires a person to work in an office setting that could require long periods of sitting, standing, and walking. Time could be spent walking from area to area making sure everything is functioning properly and efficiently. Light lifting to 20 pounds. This position may require the employee to do repetitive tasks.
